Edward Miguel Paredes (born September 30, 1986(1986-09-30) in Villa Riva, Dominican Republic) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher currently in the Seattle Mariners organization. He was signed by the Mariners as a non-drafted free agent in 2005.

Professional career

He began his professional career in 2005 with the Dominican Summer League, going 3-0 with a 2.02 ERA and one save in 12 games.

In 2006 Paredes played for the DSL Marines, marking the second straight season he did so. He went 3-3 with 14 saves and a 2.63 ERA in 24 games. He participated in the Arizona Fall League at the end of the season.

Paredes split the 2007 season with the Short-Season Everett AquaSox and the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. He started the season on June 14 with the Rainiers and made only one start, giving up no hits or runs. He was transferred to the AquaSox the next day where he would go on to lead the Northwest League in wins with seven and innings pitched with 8523 innings of work. He was named to the Northwest League Post-Season All-Star Team. Paredes was named Everett's Most Valuable Pitcher by the Seattle Mariners. He again participated in the Arizona Fall League.

He began the 2008 season with the Single-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers where he would go 7-11 with a 4.63 ERA in 25 games, 24 starts. He compiled 91 strikeouts in 11623 innings pitched. He was promoted to the Double-A West Tenn Diamond Jaxx on August 22. He went 1-1 with the Diamond Jaxx in two games, both starts.

Paredes split the 2009 season with the Class-A Advanced High Desert Mavericks and the Double-A Diamond Jaxx. He went a combined 8-4 with a 4.99 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 45 games, three starts. He was placed on the Mariners' 40-man roster on November 20.[1]

He was designated for assignment by Seattle on June 29, 2011.[2]
